Christmas Day ..8 and 9 :)

December 9, 2007 alymc

So I missed a day …. sue me.

I’ve got just a brief little thing to say.  If you didn’t listen to my last gift, shame on you.    We have been talking in class lately about “Christmas” disappearing from our culture.  It’s being taken out of Christmas songs …. for crying out loud .. it’s Christmas!!  Francis Chan talked about his little girl’s Christmas program .. and how at the end they ended up singing “We wish you a happy holidays”.  That’s absurd.  And, that’s exactly what he thought.  He says it is like singing “away in a Macy’s”.  That’s exactly how our culture has adopted Christmas.

It also gave me something to think about when he compared God coming down into this world and living among us and loving us, to us loving ants so much that we would make ourselves an ant and dwell with them, to save them (x 1000).  Wow.  I won’t steal any more, in case you would still like to listen (the “gift” is in day 6 ;) .

    I won’t sue you…

That reminds me of a sermon Tony Hall did in Ohio about how God is so big and that we are like grasshoppers to Him. Imagine if a grasshopper came up to you and started demanding answers and asking for respect… would you honestly care about what the grasshopper has to say? No! But that’s what makes our God so awesome… he cares about us little grasshoppers and loves us even though there are so many of us and the universe is so big. He loves us enough to send His only Son to save us.

Yeah.. this politically correct thing is more like a denial of reality.

“Happy holidays”.. It makes sense up to a point, I guess. What are we trying to really say? Especially in cases where we deliberately rip out the word ‘Christmas’ from a song.

I’m listening to the gift. Thanks :)

He stole that from Fran Chan…. but that’s ok … I still like Tony.

Alyssa, I’m wondering if you know anything about a band called Paramore

Just watched their video for “Hallelujah” on YouTube.

Seems like (ala Flyleaf) they are right up your alley

    Let me know

Paramore definitely reminded me of Flyleaf.. A lot…

I know that they are one of the bands known for supporting the To Write Love on Her Arms organization..

Hm. And.. after a quick search.. I respect them.

    I felt the same way.

Did some reading on the charity and was very impressed.
